Articled Student

Laura has returned for her articles in 2024/2025, having previously worked at Carfra Lawton as a summer articled student in 2023. Laura works in general insurance defence litigation, including motor vehicle defense. personal injury, health law, medical malpractice, insurance coverage, where she bring a unique perspective from their previous experience in forensics, mental health, and addiction. Before attending law school, Laura spent seven years working for Alberta Health Services, including on various inpatient medical services units at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary.

While attending law school in Saskatchewan, Laura published two literature reviews in collaboration with the Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science and Justice Studies. She also participated in the Deans Forum, which focused on integrating artificial intelligence into the legal world, and volunteered with Pro Bono Canada, working on projects with the John Howard Society.

In addition to their legal work, Laura has a long history of volunteer involvement in minor hockey associations in both Alberta and Saskatchewan. She has coached at various levels, including Team Alberta, and the Alberta Junior Female Hockey League, and has dedicated over eight years to supporting and mentoring young athletes in the sport.

"Originally, from Winnipeg and raised in Calgary, I love spending time outdoors hiking, snowboarding and surfing. If I am not spending time outdoors, I spend most of my free time playing hockey and coaching with minor hockey associations. I also have a passion for traveling the world and exploring new places."
